I currently have a 10x10 u shaped kitchen. I also have a breakfast room right next to the kitchen that currently has a table and 4 chairs and a bay window. I currently do not have a breakfast bar. There isn't enough room for a breakfast bar and a table with chairs because then the table and chairs would not be centered with the bay window.
I would like to remodel the kitchen and add a breakfast bar and eliminating the table and chairs. I'd like to either keep the u shape and just extend it into the breakfast room with a breakfast bar that seats 4 or possibly create and L shaped kitchen and add an island that will seat 4 that will again extend into the breakfast room.
A couple questions that I have: By doing the above changes, there would no longer be enough room to have a separate table and chairs. I'm fine with that, but would that look odd? I don't plan on moving anytime soon but would that make selling the house harder in let's say 10yrs from now? The house does have a formal dining room so I do have a table and chairs for 6 in that room if needed.
I'm stumped. The bay window is the main feature that is throwing me off because I feel like I need to center the seating with it, but I have small kids that like to watch me cook in the kitchen so a breakfast bar would be more useful. Edited to add that the entire space, including the breakfast room is 14x10.
