If you have more important things to do, then I would just buy new hardware. It will take more time to paint each piece and let it dry. Unless you have $100+ hardware to replace each or a lot, it's not going to cost much to replace.

Anyways paint, especially rub and buff is going ware off. Again wasting time.

I meant $100 for each piece of hardware. Some knobs and pulls are priced well over $100 each. If you shop around, you might find something you like priced $1 or $2. Also try ebay.

I'd be concerned about Rub 'n Buff sticking to shiny brass. I bought a cute shiny brass vintage light fixture at Habitat Restore that I repurposed into a decorative lantern, and Rub 'n Buff wouldn't stick to it evenly. And this was something that I wanted to set on a shelf, not withstand the daily use of a kitchen pull.

If you spray paint your pulls, at least you can rough them up with fine sandpaper first. I know at $3-4 a pull, replacing all of them will add up fast. Painting the old ones might get you by for a year or two.

I had vintage brass pulls that I spray painted with 'chrome' spray paint then followed with black shoe polish to fill in the cracks. Looked like pewter.

You can buy spray primer, specifically for this purpose. Check out Zinsser BIN Bullseye 123.

We sprayed all of our door knobs black. Sanded them just a bit nothing crazy, then spray painted with Rust oleum spray paint in oil rubbed bronze. 90% were great but really used ones ie: bedroom knob did wear after 2 years. Good luck!
