So funny, I needed something to carry an external hard drive and cable in, so I pulled a small one of these out this weekend that has a a tie-string closure and am using it for a HD bag. :)

Those are cool, Beverly! I don't know how much stuff like that my mom has stashed; I know she has mountains of paperwork like 25 year old hospital bills and tax returns back to the dawn of time. :)

She gave me my dad's slide rule a couple of weeks ago.

Saving the old paperwork can be a real God-send. I got audited by the IRA once when I was living with her. She went into her files and came up with every single receipt from the year in question. I took them with me and was able to justify my tax return.

Ever since then I also save every single receipt. Never know when they'll come in handy. I also save fabric like it's going out of style.

Good idea, Sharon. Gotta talk her out of these first. I do have some, but they are not as nice as these. I have some that my great grandmother tatted around the edges and turned into pillow cases.

Oh Beverly...those are fabulous! I could never cut them into a quilt, but that's me. A friend of mine has two framed up and in her dining room, they are a part of the family history. Good luck with whatever you do with them!

My grandma saved everything. There was a reason for it back then. You never knew when something would be needed. It was a case of waste not, want not.

The "shorts" are what doesn't end up in the flout - used for animal feed.

Yup, they were feed sacks. We have several of them because the print made them undesirable for making household items. They were used to store dried fruit and seeds instead of being cut apart for dresser scarves, quilts, or clothing.

There are a couple pre-Castro bags in her stash, but she won't part with them.
