What is your purpose in covering the windows? Privacy, heat/light control, texture or softness to the room are all considerations. Wovens do sound bulky for this application. Evidently you had something there before. What was it?

We need privacy and sun protection. I love the texture and warmth that wovens add to a room. The previous owner had transparent panels hanging.... They didn't offer much privacy. The look was too much....the rods are too large for the scale of the room......I wanted something more beachy casual......

I prefer the simplicity of just the wovens with no draperies. The concern is if it will work visually to have so much bulk at the top of the narrow windows, and also how much loss of light and view due to the large stacks covering part of the top of the window.....the consultant said she thinks I am over thinking it. Just wanted to get some other opinions before investing so much money!

I think woven wood shades would look fantastic. You can have privacy, light control, and your preferred style all in one. They do have a larger stack when raised than other window coverings, if you are okay losing a bit of the view at the top. These would look fantastic.

I absolutely love my woven wood shades and they are not heavy at all when fully rolled up. They are sheer enough that some light comes in, but offer enough privacy. I think they would look lovely in your room!

Thanks for all you comments. Select blinds, do you have a window width minimum that you recommend for bulkier treatment such as the wovens? Wondering about the visual effect of a bulky stack over a narrow window.

In my opinion, the width of the window would not be a problem at all. Looking at the photo from decoenthusiaste those windows are not much larger than yours, and the treatments look great.

I think they will look weird because you have such shallow casings and no frames around the windows. An outside mount will look even more strange. OTOH, since it has to be outside, you could raise it so that the stack doesn't cover so much of the window. But I think it'll be fairly ugly under and circumstances, given the visible header and raw ends of the wood.

Select blinds, the window covering would be 24" wide, with a 9-12" stack. Just not sure proportionally what that will look like when the blinds are raised.....I thought perhaps if I choose a less bulky design of woven woods, one that's flatter, perhaps it might work.

tatts, not sure what you mean by raw ends? The mechanism would be hidden by the header which is covered on the sides.....

I agree, the woven wood blinds are a great look for your room. I have installed many of these and your concern with the stack is a common one. I have found that once installed, my clients notice an immediate warmth in the room plus their windows achieve some definition with the look of a valance when the blind is raised. When you take a look at your window now, some of your view is already disrupted just by the depth of the sill. You really are not losing much in the end. -Laura

Oh that's a good point I never thought of. ....... I wasn't going to bind the edges but maybe I should. Image one, what do you recommend to your clients in that situation?

In my experience, this would not look bad by any means. However, if that is something you are not sure about, you could also install them as an outside mount. This would give the illusion of the windows being taller and the stack of the blind would not disrupt the view as much when raised.

Most of the natural weave blinds installed are unbound. Mainly it is because the blinds are installed inside the window casement (IB) so the edges are untouched by anything brushing by. If they are mounted on the outside of your window frame (OB) then it wouldn't hurt, but a good blind won't just fall apart on the ends.
Really it just comes down to the look you are after. The binding tend to formalize and define your windows and not binding them has a more casual look. Good luck!
