Hunzi, did you post pics of your navy bath that I missed? I also just did navy, so I'd love to see yours :)

For that bath above, I'd agree with Hunzi and pick a neutral that blends with the tile. I'm having a hard time picturing a "color" with it. Hopefully others will be more imaginative than I.

My first inclination was what both of u were thinking - white, a cream or a gray but I see dramatic colors sometimes that look great...what about a very pale aqua?

Errant - the navy bathroom is my Slightly Imperfect Powder Room - I talk about it in part 1 of my Starting From Dirt Adventure because it was tied to the basement project. - Not a great photo - the room is so small, it's nearly impossible to photograph (but it is awesome in person!) The color isn't quite right in this photo - it's BM Hale Navy - so a very deep navy.

Oh, I do recall seeing your Men's Room, Hunzi! Thanks for reminding me :)

Nicholsworth, I'm having a hard time picturing an Aqua with your tile. Do you have anything that color that you could try placing in your bath to get a feel for it?

I saw a gray tile with a narrow accent strip of watery blues & greens & it was pretty...I'll try holding a hand towel up & see how it looks...didn't mention this but we have 2 baths with this tile...1 (smaller one in the pic) has a window - other 1 has double sinks is larger & windowless...might do the walls differently...just so u know I was NOT happy that the edge tiles looked different than the squares...

I was wondering if it was just the photo, or they really were that different. The bullnose appears to be beige tones, while the field tile is more gray, right?

What are your favorite colors? The tile is so neutral you can do just about anything as long as it's not too clean a color. Give me a color and I'll photoshop for you. Gray, beige or white will be dull and boring honestly.

    Men's room - too funny!!!!

Actually, I'm the one who picked all the stuff for in there - It's my baseball bat, hat & ball - I got them from the Pirates' after they won the world series when I was 6, (my grandmother worked for the team owner - and he heard I followed the series and my favorite player was Roberto Clemente - so he sent me a signed personal bat from Roberto, a signed ball from Danny Murtaugh and an official team cap), and the horse racing prints were a gift from my grandmother when I was about 8 or 9, (because the family she worked for also had race horses and we were following Secretariat's triumph and their horse Little Current won 2 of the 3 triple crown races the next year). But the combo of baseball and horses seemed weird, so I added a bunch of photos of champions and coaches with inspirational quotes I loved - so it's really a personal motivational room! But guys do appreciate it!

Errant - yes!!!both boxes said portofino gray...husband was in the hospital when it was installed...very bad timing...walked in & the tile guys go "look how nice the trim looks with the shower & tops"...just couldn't deal with it...

cpartist - love almost all colors...house is an 80's split level with tons of dark wood interior trim (beams, tongue & groove on kit ceiling, wainscoting, chair railing etc)...in a wooded setting so I am using earthtones on fixed elements & maybe get a little color with paint...blues, greens, browns & grays are my favorites

    How about something like this?

It's called Seafoam - it looks blue, green, or grey depending on the light. My only thought is your tile look more a mix of grey and beige.

Gray Owl or Revere Pewter. If you went with RP maybe even adjusted to 50%.

mark - is that a pale, medium or dark gray? so u think pale is best? I'm leaning towards a pale color...

I would go light just to keep things light & bright. Gray owl is very light, but Revere pewter is medium I would say. That's why I suggested adjusting it to 50%. It reads gray at times & beige at times. It's a gray with brown undertowns. Very nice earthy neautral.

Both the bottom left & bottom right color is Revere Pewter. They look like different colors, but it's just the different lighting. It's really a camilion if a color. The top left is Gray Owl. Long middle stripe is Horizon & top right is Quiet Moments.

mark - I really like everything but Horizon seems boring compared to the others...which brand of paint is this?

These are all Benjamin Moore colors. If you like different paint better than BM they will usually still mix a BM color.
