Once you get your landscaping in - it will make a big difference. I would vote to paint the columns to match the trim. Another thing that jumps out at me would be to replace the steps with a set that's as wide as the porch. I think it will add dimension to the porch, and it's always nice to have space to place pots during the spring and summer season.

Paint the columns.

Look into column wraps or add trim to them to add even more appeal. Also, you could think about extending a stair railing past the column to the door and on the sides include a decorative inset trim. If you wanted to diy it there are multiple tutorials online. I would also suggest a more sizeable/ decorative wall mount light.

Paint the trim and columns pure white and regroup.

I would build a porch across the whole front of the house it would give instant curb appeal and a really nice place to sit. Then worry about landscaping but the first thing is an actual walkway to the front door.

What a cute house! I like the front door color. If you like fun, you could do sort of a cottage-style look on the front. If you change the shutters maybe and paint them a fun color and then paint the porch and accessorize it well, it could be very cute!

Enlarging the porch is a good idea, but it wouldn't have to be the full width of the house. Just extend the existing gable forward, creating a covered porch from the right side to the front door. It looks like you enter from the right side anyway, so the steps could be on that end and the full width of the porch. It would probably have 3 posts, one on each side and at the center under the gable. Make them substantial and paint to match trim.

Then get serious about landscaping. Have fun!

For landscaping advice, get as much professional advice as you can afford. It will save you money in the long run and as your plants get larger, increase the value of your home.

Your local nursery can often help. See if they have staff who are trained to do a plan for you for a minimal fee. If not, go at a quiet time (not on a Saturday morning in early spring!) and see if you can get advice.

Bring as much information with you as you can. Take several photos of your house from each side, the front, both close up and farther away. Take measurements of your yard and house including the location of the windows and porch. Do your best to draw it up on a big sheet of paper. Graph paper is good. I have done my yard on graph paper that is 1/4 inch for every foot. (Stationery stores have this.) Be sure you know what direction the house faces, and how many hours of sunlight the front gets.

You'll need to decide first where your front walkway will go, and whether you are going to enlarge your porch.

What color is your front door? I was aiming for something similar with BM Wedgewood Gray. Yours POPS a lot more! I like.

Paint the columns. I would add a flower box under each window. You can do branches and evergreens in winter. It's a really sweet house and it will look great when you finish.
