Quilt alongs

I am in a mood to do a quilt along or a mystery quilt. Here are two that look interesting:

I like the pattern and donations go to March of Dimes. I don't like the fabrics very much, so I may use my stash.

This also looks interesting but there may be too many tiny pieces.

Do you have any other quilt-alongs you are part of? Do you want to join either of these? Should we try to start our own quilt-along in the forum?

I'm just finishing up the Bonnie Hunter mystery that went over Xmas. I think I'll pass for now although I love the colors in the Cora one.

I have found I can't keep up with quilt-alongs.........or I get side-tracked. I'm doing a BOM from the Block of the Month Group on FB . They are stars and you use whatever fabric you want. Since this is only one block a month, I can handle it since I have so many UFOs I'm trying to move along.....plus they, so far, are easy. These are my January and February blocks.

Like those blocks, Sharon.

I have a hard time with BOMs or quilt-a-longs. My interest is gone after one or two months. So, I will pass on this too.

I hear you on getting bored, Theresa. I don't usually care for mystery quilt-alongs. I like to see the finished product up front. I've done a few and except for one, they still are not finished.

I have done two or three mystery quilts at the LQS. Managed to do them because I knew, liked and trusted the teacher. And they were one day sessions so not a lot of time invested. And it gave me a chance to be with and quilt with others. Sometimes we (I) need some interaction and personal sharing of tips and ideas. Quilting can be a solitary hobby.

Just a little aside about that teacher. I had signed up for one of her mysteries but it happened that I had the flu that day. She called a few days later and arranged to come to my house for a private lesson. How is that for a sweetheart of a person? I wish she were still teaching. She was also a LAQ and did lovely work. Doesn't do that either now. Boo -hoo!
