Yes. the shades are two colors - tan or espresso. I like the tan, but I have seen pictures of darker shades when the table and chairs are dark and like the photos.

Have you thought about a bright or contrasting colored stool? I thought about a red tolix stool to pick up the color in your range knobs. Maybe like these below or without the backs,,

I think the tan stools complete the island. Black looks disjointed, out of place. Same with the curtains.

The black Arhaus look comfy but your black saddle stools look lost, at least in your picture.

Thanks. Yes, they are bar stools and too tight. But, I find counter stools too low. I was thinking of taking them to the metal shop and having the legs cut.

So, tan shades. I agree. Thank you. That was my first thought and I bough 4 shades, but after seeing a photo of darker ones, I thought I should try the dark style.

I like the thought of the red chairs. It might take a few glasses of wine for my husband to agree. I clicked on the link and couldn't see how much they were or where to buy. The metal ones I just got are not the kind of chairs you would spend hours on. Not as easy as the saddle ones, but the black I have I agree - they are lost, but stick out in a bad way at the same time... Maybe white?

I don't want the diameter to be more than 15". Less is better. The overhand is more of a perch for prepping, quick cup of coffee, one of us to sit and chat as the other is cooking.

This may be a contender. 14" wide and 25" high. Most are 24.

I noticed that one of the black stools you showed above could swivel, but not the more recent ones you just listed. There's a recent thread on people's preferences for stools that swivel, so thought I'd throw it in as a reminder.

Also, for height issues, what about those hydraulic stools where you can adjust the height? Just an idea.

I wanted colored tolix stools at our beach house but they were more than I wanted to spend. I got plain metal ones, something like 2/$100 and spray painted them as a temporary measure until we recovered from furnishing and outfitting the whole house. 6 years later they're still here, and I still love them.

Also if you use the Romans from lowes, you could add (sew or even iron on) trim across the bottom for a more custom look without the $$$ of custom. Something like this, although prob not Greek key, and tie in your accent color?

I like the black saddle stools better. The metal stools are very uncomfortable to sit, perch on. We have a restaurant nearby that had these stools at the bar. We couldn't sit on them for any period of time. They were that uncomfortable. The restaurant just replaced them because of the complaints. Plus, I like the touch of black in the kitchen. It doesn't pop, but it continues the calm vibe. Just my two cents.

What about reupholstering the black stools in a color you like.

Southwest wifi. Great benefit. The metal stools going back. Was a good deal but easier to just get the correct height. Jury is out on comfort but I agree least comfy option at this point. I will check out jc penny. Black stools - I have never had good luck repainting things. Chipping drives me bonkers.

I did find them on Wayfair for $219, still a lot considering there is no wood, only metal painted to look like wood. Let us know what you find, because I have been looking for something similar to what you want and I still haven't nailed it. The Grandin Road stools look nice and I love the color selection and one version is on sale now for a great price $99, but the seat height is 24 inches and I want at least another inch or two.

I think Target has some great stools online. I would check out their site. I would think about doing some pattern on your window treatments. I wish I had a window in my kitchen to add some pattern. If it were me, I would find a fun fabric and have them made. Or, I know some of the blind companies have fun fabrics...

Agree about the fabric for windows - but there is another voting block in this and "he" isn't so into it. We ended up with the first photo shade..lighter color. I value my marriage more than window shades...go figure. We still haven't purchased stools though.

I'm in the middle of the same decision! Really loving stools with rush seats for texture. I'm considering backless ones.
