Help! Updating a 1990's awkward kitchen

The time has come to update my kitchen and try to configure the living room to an area my husband will use as opposed to squeezing himself into the tiny area off our kitchen. The living room is long, narrow and awkward. It's wasted space as we never use it. We never use our dining room table. I would like to remove the dining set and put a tv on that wall. I would like to take everything out of the kitchen and put in new cabinets, flooring, lighting and appliances. The house is awkward so it's a challenge!! Any ideas would be so appreciated. I am thinking quartz countertop and using the same hardwood in the kitchen as in the living room.
