When the larger drawers get filled up and heavy as they do over time, pulls placed at the top will stress the drawer face. Seeing the various positions was a great way to decide ...IMO they "look" much better.

I prefer centered also. Mine are and no problem reaching for the bottom draw pull.

Thanks for weighing in. I don't have very long to ruminate, so it's helpful to see what other gut reactions are.

DH prefers centered, and I've been on the fence. Ikea's own staged pictures and installations tend heavily toward placement at the top of the drawer.

George Stephenson, that is a good point about the additional stress on the drawer when the "pull" is always coming from the top.

My top one is centered, and lower drawers are at the top. It's such an individual choice. I didn't want to have to lean over any further to open the bottom drawers.

Personally, I greatly prefer the centered look

I like centered on the 5" and the 10" drawer fronts, but I'd like to see what it looks like when the pulls on the 15" fronts are 5" down from the top edge. The pull on the edge detail looks to high and centered looks too low to me.

My theory is that 5" down on the 15s will relate well to the 5" drawer front and the pulls centered at 5" on the 10" fronts.

Thinking about murchkid and bpahome's comments, it occurs to me that one reason I've been uncertain is that I like the pulls centered on the shallower drawers and higher on the 15" deep drawers.

Neat idea to mix up the approach. But I'll have four 15" drawers (two on each of two cabinets) sitting across from the three door stacks. So maybe it'd look to odd in our case.

It wouldn't hurt to mock it up. We have a narrow aisle, 12.5' long galley; 10" stacks on the right and 5-10-15s on the left and I plan to do what looks best for each drawer, not necessarily according to what's across the aisle. You're kitchen is different, but in mine you have to stand in a specific spot to be able to see both sides at the same time otherwise, you can't really see both sides together.

Is the skinny end cabinet a pullout, or is the door hinged?

And by the way, you have some freedom in pull placement since the drawer fronts are not all the same anyway.

Might be interesting to check later on how this placement looks on the two drawer stacks that will be across from the three drawer stacks.

On Shaker drawers, I prefer them on the top rail, but with your raised panel drawers, it definitely needs to be centered. With your 4-drawer stack, I like it 5" down. I'd do the same with your 2-drawer stacks, which I assume is raised panel.

I also prefer the centered option, but like that last pic with the 5" placement on the deeper drawer...

Will I regret this later? I don't know, but after first reassuring myself that all the options would be fine, I waited for our two-man team to go to lunch and played around some more with the blue tape and pulls.

Benjesbride, I wound up going with your suggestion - I centered the pulls on all the 5" and 10" drawers, but placed the handles on the 15" drawers 5" down from the drawer top. Thanks for giving me the idea to try mocking the drawers up this way.

I like them all centered, as well - but not having my smallish pull dead-center on the giant drawers, but instead further up, just pleases me more.
