Rug too small or not?

Having a bit of a tough time. I love the rug (originally purchased for another space but can't use it there) and plopped it down in our incompletely furnished living room. Should I find another spot for it and get a larger rig for this space or does it work here?

It would not be my recommendation for your room. Appears too small for the room. I would recommend a shorter pile classic style sized correctly for the room and then place the sofa and piano on top of the rug.

Yes, the rug is too small for the space. Very cool rug but too small. Could you float the couch a little farther in the room?

Run the rug lengthwise in front of fireplace and place sofa facing fireplace with part of sofa legs on the rug....maybe put piano behind the sofa at an angle.

Beautiful rug. Another option is to layer it on top of a thin, but much larger rug, one that will be under the piano & the sofa. I agree to move the sofa into the room some, perhaps by a foot or more, putting a sofa table behind it. If you want a coffee table, choose a glass or lucite one so not to cover up that beautiful rug. Or get some bigger side tables with big lamps. Plants on the sofa table would be perfect for this elegant room. It doesn't need much more. I can imagine lounging on that sofa while listening to my spouse playing the piano. Gorgeous!

I also think it appears too small.

Maybe you can find another spot for it in your home.

The rug is both too small and too aggressive: it detracts from the interesting art and overwhelms the space. You should rethink the layout, as the current position of the piano interferes with the fireplace. At least a foot of rug should be under the sofa.
