Small project-large placemat.

The center of this project was made using leftover half square triangles from a quilt that I recently finished. I just laid them out in a pattern that was pleasing to me and sewed it together and then I put a square ruler on top of it with weights on top and kept it like that for a couple of months while I decided what to do with it. That really helped flatten out the seams and made it much easier to work on later.

Then I took 20 small wonky stars that I had gotten in a bitty block swap on Flickr a couple of years ago and used them for the border.

I quilted it with a variegated thread and did some heavy organic line which is one of my favorite ways to quilt a placemat, I just like how it feels and looks.

It always feels so good to finish something off, something that's been sitting around for a while and you were never sure what to do with it. Sorry the photo is sideways
