Help Returning live fig stump to tree

My newly purchased old home had a gigantic fig tree which the former owners cut to stump. It's still alive and I'd like to let it grow into a tree again if that's possible. I've trimmed off all the hundreds of small suckers but wonder how many larger ones I should leave. Right now I have 9 "leaders" about 5-6 ft high with no branching. These leaders are about 1-2 inches in diameter. Any advice?

select the biggest sucker and keep that one and remove the rest. then cut that one at 3-4'. this will encourage the tree to start putting out branches. then from there you can shape the tree however you like.

i'd like to add that once the tree starts putting out branches pinch the tip of those branches at the 5-7th node to promote even more branches. the good thing is that small tree is backed up by a massive root system so you should see lots of growth this year.
