Honed will wear better, shows less scratches as there is not polish to catch the light.

When we moved into our new house, the previous owners had just renovated and put in polished marble on all of our kitchen surfaces. After about 2 minutes of pristine gorgeousness, the etches started to appear and were so incredibly obvious- it drove me NUTS and I was constantly obsessed about my counters- not the way I want to be in my own kitchen-especially with an active family!

After about 7 months, I could't stand it any longer and decided to have them honed. Etches still happen of course. But the honed surface make them much less visible when they do occur…..
