Depends on your climate (or, I guess, how much heat you waste in your house). Many people love them, but I'm cold just being at the far end with the door closed, so it would be a crazy choice in our house.

Hire a professional with experience (or if you have remodeling experience, read up extensively before attempting). The floor has to be sloped away from the walk-in area and towards a drain that usually parallels one of the shower walls. Get it wrong and your house will flood.

It's a very contemporary look. We install them with ceiling mounted rain-showers so the water flows straight down, and just as Bespoke Décor mentioned, pitch the floor for drainage. Sometimes the tile is smaller (e.g., hex tiles) to make sloping easier, but we have a zero threshold walk-in shower in our showroom with 12" x 24" tiles, so options abound.

In addition to getting the right professional and weighing the pros and cons, ask yourself if it's really you. Is your look/feel contemporary, does it maintain or support continuity in your home's design, how will you maintain it (cleaning, mopping, etc.)? As acm mentioned, what is the climate in your home and do you have hard/soft water (also a maintenance consideration).

It may be a little more of a form over function design element, but it is manageable if you partner with the right professionals.
