Did you set up your home wifi already? Sounds like you have a good plan - would be curious to know how it's coming along.

Not sure the size of your house, but our old Linksys wi-fi router was insufficient and resulted in weak signals at parts of the house. We switched to an Asus RT66 router (code name Dark Knight), and this sucker is powerful - no more weak signals and no need to use access points. This router was more expensive than the Linksys, Netgear, Belkin, etc. but it worked out well for us.

That said, if you were to set up a wifi unit, I would set it up in the middle of the house, so that you get coverage throughout the house. In our house, before we renovated it, the router was located in one end of the house and the signal was weakest at the other end of the house.

Locate the router in a central location of the house.
