Rita, there are different types of metallic thread now, and I have found they are better than they used to be! Like you, I tried some a long time ago. I think it was polyester or poly/cotton thread wrapped with some type of metallic fiber. I hated it, too! Now that type of thread is much easier to work with, and they also have metallics that are like a ribbon of plastic that is shiny.

Try one again and see what you think.

I haven't seen Bob's videos, but I used to get their newsletter, and it was full of great information. (And some really bad jokes.)

Well now I'm about to change up, I read somewhere today that you can't wash metallic thread, is this true? No since in spending time and money on something that is strictly for show. But anyway, this guy is very informative on all kinds of different thread facts.

The few times I have used metallic thread, it has been on landscape quilts = wall hangings, that were never really meant to be washed. I used the thread for stars in the sky or a frozen-over body of water (to indicate ice). The metallic thread worked fine for this type of use.
