Here are some pendants that would add warmth to your kitchen:

I would do a back painted glass backsplash in your favorite color then paint the drop ceiling part in a coordinating color and add barstools in one more color maybe even a color for each child , the paint and the stools could be changed later but might be fun right now then i would use very simple clear glass lights and some fun accessories

So, to a cold, clinical kitchen you're going to add a glass-topped table and leather chairs. Really?

And with young children, I would never buy a glass table. Glass tables are not comfortable to sit at because the surface is always so cold to the touch. I much prefer the comfort of wood.

I remember hating the glass dining table when my Max was a toddler. He didn't notice it and ran headfirst into the edge a few times. Not fun!

I love your kitchen! I think that you have room to play with colored accessories that will will change or enhance the atmosphere you would like to achieve. I think that a combination of blues, yellow and orange is a playful element. You can also add greens if blues are not for you. I also think that if you have colored bar stools will make a big impact. It depends what colors makes you and your family happy. I hope this can help.
