Help! Exterior color

I just bought a 1974 home with old Chicago brick. I don't want to paint the brick but the green is hideous. Ideas for painting trim and dormers? I would like to go with a dark brown door but open to ideas. First pic is original, second is my attempt at figuring out another color. Thanks!

I agree with patriciarhall on this. Dark brown would not go with the color of the roof. Congrats!

Is gray consider warm? you mentioned looking for something warm rather than cool.

BM Rockport Gray is considered a warm gray. Do a search on Houzz photos with "warm gray vs cool gray" and you will see the difference.

If you want shutters, they should be wide enough to look like they would cover the window fully if they were closed.

I would go with a taupe-ish colour as suggested on the side building walls, something that complements the brick. Then I would go with a charcoal or darkish gray on the window area of the side building to bring more definition and contrast to that window as with the dormers, same colour, and perhaps define that window area of the side building with two vertical pieces of trim to differentiate that area from the rest of the siding.

The shutters could then be the same colour or perhaps a bit darker and paint out the dormer and other windows fascia and the area around the door to match the shutters, not the white as shown.

I would also prune, control the plantings into a more symmetrical arrangement, especially around the front door. Also darker light fixtures around the front door, spray paint or replace if possible. best wishes...

Gorgeous house! I agree with the votes for the warmer gray tones. Or any grays. Or slate blue. You don't have to spend a fortune on shutters. I recall my contractor made them on site in minutes. I'm perplexed by the cost of pre-made shutters.

So dormers same warm gray as well?

Sara, if you enter dormers in the photo searchbar, you will see they are the same color as the body of the house, not an accent color that you would choose for the front door or shutters for example. If you intend to paint the siding a warm grey/beige or taupe for example, you would also paint your dormers the same.

If possible, add a closer photo of your brick. What color are your gutters/eavestroughs?

    gutters are cream right now
