Why don't you want to use the Basil? We love our homemade pizzas topped with basil after we get it out of the oven.

Because I don't like the smell.

Although having no Italian or other Mediterranean ancestry so far as I know, I have about concluded that nothing with tomatoes in it should be made without basil. It and rosemary are the two must have herbs in my kitchen.

P.S. Love garlic too, but never think of it as an herb.

Antonia, why not simply make it without the basil and not worry about substituting?

If you share the recipe with me, I'll be able to suggest herbs and spices or other flavor boosters!

By the way,there are herbs that I can't abide, either. It's a very personal characteristic.

Yes seeing the recipe would be a great help for recommending an alternate herb for basil which is my favorite herb :)
