Could you clarify? Drip tape doesn't normally use emitters. It just has small slits cut into the flat 5/8" wide flat tape every 6, 8, or 12". I guess you could call the slits "emitters" but they aren't the same thing. 15 mil thickness is pretty standard.

Drip irrigation tubing (round and either 1/4 or 1/2" in diameter) uses drip emitters, hard plastic plugs that punch into the feeding hose where you want the water to come out. I suppose you could use them with drip tape if you wanted but they aren't necessary.

Drip tape flow rate/gph is pre-determined by the factory and most is set at 1/2 gph. On the other hand drip emitters that are used with tubing irrigation come in several different flow rates.

Does this help?

Keep in mind that soaker hose is another option and less complex to understand. You may prefer to just go that route.

thanks for trying to help. I was looking on the drip depot site on this page https://www.dripdepot.com/category/drip-irrigation-tape at the choices of tapes. the emitter spacing and flow were 2 of the options. I'll call the company and get someone to help me with my order. I have used soakers in the past and they just seem to deteriorate so quickly. so I was hoping to get something that would last longer. there is obviously a learning curve for me with drip tapes. thanks again for trying to help.
