Why? Why would you destroy something rather lovely to put an ugly hot tub in?

I have taken out a koi pond (they are lovely , but a beating to maintain). Separately, we have put in a hot tub, but not in the exact same location. (By we, my husband and I did the pond demo, but we hired contractors for the hot tub.) The plumbing and construction of ponds and hot tubs are very different. Other than the hole, there are not a lot of synergies.

If a pond is made properly the only upkeep is feeding the fish. I agree keep the pond and put the hot tub somewhere else the only thing you could keep is the space.

If you simply apply the engineering required for this to work as a hot tub then you'd better apply for a second mortgage. What do hot tubs need to function? 1. Insulation to retain heat. 2. Water pumps and a circulation system 3. Covering to protect heat loss when not in use. 4. Easy access and safety features so you don't get sued. Etc. etc. So anything is possible with enough money and foolishness factored in to the equation. Does that help answer the question? Myself, I'd rather have this:

I see this was from 2016, but my daughter and I (as we were doing the annual cleaning of the pond) had the same idea as you!! How nice and more useful would it be to relax in a beautiful "hot tub" pond!!! I don't like the annual care for only several months of beautiful viewing. Did you ever convert your pond???

We have a koi pond now. Bane of my existence. Hard to maintain and a money pit. I’d rather have a hot tub money pit.

I am considering doing the same thing to my above ground koi pond. We would just get much more use out of a hot tub then a koi pond. I am going to contact a contractor to see if the hole, and masonry work around the pond , can at least be reused.
