Hello Blofranco, try checking out Fabricut's new collection- French General on their website. They have some beautiful textured embroideries and graphic prints. Also consider mounting the drapery rods just below your crown molding, this will make the room feel bigger and elevate the eye when you walk into the room. Hope this helps. Ok I was unsure where to hang the rod but I need privacy for this room. The dining room is located in the front of the house and we live in a development where there are other houses around. I thought by keeping them semi closed that would serve the purpose. I can change the position of the rod however. The rest of the room has the molding halfway up the walls (off white) and the dark gray on top. I have a buffet on the left side of the room and a china cabinet in there as well. Our dining room table is being made and will arrive in another 6 weeks or so. The table is dark wood with ivory upholstered chairs. I do not want a rug in the room (although I like the look of a rug) I just don't want to worry about keeping food off of it. I bought these curtains at Target, because i loved the black and white. Any help is appreciated.

I would put the rods below the crown to make the room look larger.

Raise the rods as Kelly and other said. Curtains should kiss the floor, so these may need replacing.

i agree i would put the rod under the crown and if you need privacy i would do an undertreatment, roller shade, roman shade, cellular,wood, there are many options. and keep the drapes next to the window. I would invest in a lined drape made from a nicer fabric they lay much nicer then these. try pottery barn, smith and noble, jcpenny etc.

Why not try a crisp, more modern approach. Fresh white blinds to coordinate with the crown and wainscoting, then maybe add an upholstered valance.

How about top-down-bottom-up white fabric patterned pleated shades? Control privacy/light as you want. Add good quality lined curtains in the future. Sorry, but these black & white panels look like re-purposed sheets.

I have to disagree with some earlier posts-- curtains do not need to kiss the floor and in formal rooms, such as the dining room, a puddling look can be very dramatic and elegant. I wouldn't move the rods, but perhaps try doing curtains yourself. Take white curtains and stencil with a light grey paint.

Make sure they are lined

As the others have said they are hanging too low, they do not appear to have good quality lining (or any lining?) and are not hanging well because of it. I would be putting shades underneath these if you want to keep them...either cellular or woven shades, or a sheer fabric roman shade. Take these drapes back and buy the next size up and have them re-hemmed or consider having some custom made. Custom is not necessarily more expensive, they will be better made, have better hems, and better quality lining and WILL FIT your windows. Tops of rods should be about an inch below the crown molding.

Yes kiss..no puddle..they just look like you bought the wrong panels. Yes hang high & off window. Yes blinds or roman shades for privacy.

Ditto what Julie Thome Draperies said. You are crowding your room by the rods being installed low and the panels are encroaching on your windows. At a minimum, your panels need to be stack backed a bit more and I would add woven wood shades or cell shades underneath for privacy.

All these suggestions are great. A second layer for privacy is a brilliant idea. You could also get a second panel in a different color and color block the bottom so you can mount the draperies below the molding.
