modern farmhouse colors scheme

last modified: 10 years ago

We want to go for the dark windows, light farmhouse look. But are torn on the exact color scheme and need to decide this week! Should we do bronze windows or black windows? If black windows do we do black roof, charcoal grey, or light grey roof? Our door will be stain grade. The color we picked for our house is Torque White but that is flexible, although want to keep it white. The entire house will be painted one color including the brick at the bottom. We have some areas with a metal roof and the rest is architectural shingles.

thanks!

I would do bronze windows with a dark gray roof, with architectural shingles. A dark stain on the front door & garage door with black whrought iron starp hinges.

That IS beautiful!!! I wonder what architectural shingle would go nicely with that?

Charcoal (steel) roof - check. Black Windows - check. All white siding - uh, no. With this contemporary farmhouse I would use an accent color and/ alternate material (however subtle) as there is a LOT of real estate there. All white will get incredibly boring after the new home smell wears off. I think it'd be awesome to see steel corrugated siding run in conjunction with the planned material. It's an appropriate material to use in a rural setting (as well as looking pretty dang cool in modern non-rural settings)

We are building a modern farmhouse and will paint it a white shade as well, but we have different textures on the home such as brick, hardy horizontal and board and batten. We went with black windows and our shingles will be rustic black. Our entire foundation will be stone as this picture doesn't show the true elevation of our home. the foundation is about 7 feet tall as we are on a gentle sloping lot. The front rooms have a lot of depth to them. For instance the center barn like area is 12 feet in front of the sections next to it. I love all white with lots of black windows. We also have some metal roofing on the covered front porch as well as the awnings. I love black windows, I was afraid bronze in time will look more brown. Good luck, your home will be lovely!

I should add, I love that you all painted your brick foundation. We are having one hard of a time deciding what to do with ours. As you can see we have a very long home and due to the slope, it's a very TALL house with the foundation being 8 foot tall in some areas. Now, we will bring in some dirt to bring this exposed foundation more manageable but we are struggling with the idea of brick or a manufactured stone. I hate faux stone usually but found an inspiration home that it looks rather nice..... I love that you painted yours white...... You have a slab?

Thank you! We have a finished basement. I will have to find some photos of the inside to post. We are out this weekend as they are redoing the floors.

D S - what brand and color of stain did you use?

I think black windows will give it a more modern but classic look.
    Beautiful rendering.
