Therma Tru Door

I am looking to replace our entrance door and like a fiber classic, mahogany, fiber glass, 3/4 glass therma tru door and have been quoted between $3142 to $5868 for the same exact model, pre finished door with one side lite. Do they make the same model in different quality? Hence the price difference? Any things I need to be aware of while door shopping? This price is for material and installation, is this the average?

What type of frame comes with each (they have a paint grade and a stain grade frame)? What are each of the installers qualifications? Licensed and insured (real contractor or convenience store charlie)? Recommendations? Seen prior work? Where is the door coming from, a window and door supply or a box store? Interior finished and trimmed, or slap it in and run? Personally I would expect that door alone no installation to run $2500 - $3000.

I am assuming that a majority of this cost is based on weather the companies are pulling permits, delivery distance and installation quality.

Sativa - no permits being pulled and everyone is local, like within 10 miles max. So that's why I am confused if it's a quality thing. Same model number but different quality, is that possible?

Therma Tru kicks butt, the best door on the market. If the model number is the same it's the same door. Perhaps the discrepancy lies in the scope of work; new framing (those suckers are heavy), repair of interior & exterior walls, new threshhold, etc. The devil is in the details.

Why are you interested in replacing your door? I'm curious because the green door doesn't seem to have any defects.

Also, looking at the surrounding wood siding and light fixture seems like spending $3100 to 5800 will be overkill.

Leelee the bottom is rotten wood and heavy draft because of the space between that can't be seen in the picture
