A few pics of their W3037 stack and the LiGi stack. I hadn't laid my hands on a Miele washing machine since I lived in France so it felt good to press the buttons and feel those solid controls again. Love them!

I was there last fall. Really fun store, the salesperson (probably the same one, very nice and knowledgable) put a load in for me so I could get a sense of capacity and quietness as the machines will be in a living area. I left knowing I want a Miele but undecided on which ones, the LiGi's are so expensive and the 30 series are kinda small. Decided to wait, glad I have, curious about the release of the W1/T1. Funny story, I bought a pack of powder there to take back home with me, yes on a plane :-), and yes I was stopped by TSA. They made me open it to check that it was detergent and there wasn't anything hidden. So as predicted lol.

I was told last month, the W1 is expected to be released in the June/July range. 110v only though. Called Miele last month as well, who confirmed the US release but no timeframe and that it will be a 110v model, sadly. I hope they aren't too BOL compared to the rest of the world and that we will get the power wash and auto/ cap dos system.

I'm actually okay with the 110v as the 3038 appears to be such an excellent machine with glowing reviews by those here who like it. I'm curious about the caps/dos system and reviews by anyone who has used it.

I'm curious about that as well. I like the idea of not having to buy a lot one product, especially speciality ones that don't get used often. That and they take up less space making more room for all the othe detergents we have!

The 3048 just appeared on the MieleUSA website today (I know because I checked yesterday and only the 3038 was there). Prior to today, the only reference I could find online was the same link that Rococo shared. I do find it interesting that they have increased the spin to 1600rpm. That's faster than both the 3038 an the Little Giant. My suspicion is there is an element of diminishing returns on this, though. How much of a reduction in dryer time would an additional 200rpm make? Time will tell, I suppose.

I wondered the same thing. I'm also wondering if they've corrected the no heater issues in Normal and Delicate, and if the US version is still locked out of the settings menu. And then there's the why, if they're introducing the W1 models this year. Though they did the same for Canada, adding 220v back to the previous model.

I downloaded the manual for the 3048 and it does not appear that there is a Program mode where WaterPlus or other features can be accessed. Thanks for letting me know that the 220v machines are back in Canada. Just checked out the .ca website and saw it out there. Looks like a really nice machine with lots of options and a 95C washes.

Canada also has their 10yr warranty promotion right now, too. Oh, how nice it would be to be north of the border.

Alex, are you going to give up the house search?

The g-force for a small Miele drum spinning at 1300 RPM is, what, 500g? Then the same size drum at 1600 RPM is 750g. Here is a chart showing Remaining Moisture Content for "energy test cloths" subjected to a range of g-forces. So there are diminishing returns. Percentage reduction in drying time would also depend on what RMC you normally dry to, which probably isn't 0%

There are a big money difference between domestic and pro models I know but you get what you pay for, not so much in quality but in speed of washing, if you have alot or need it fast go Pro. Here in Europe a few years ago miele had a washer and dryer set up at there test lab that you could follow via video in realtime. They were to show that it could handle what they claim in operating hours and after washing and drying 24/7 it never needed any work done. I do not remember for how long this went on sadly.

Also in Denmark a few years back Miele went on a hunt for the oldest working washingmachine, that was fun to read about also.

@Suburban - Exactly. Thank you for validating my thought with science. I'm not sure the extra 200 is really worth much, especially if the machine has lost any other features in the "upgrade," as is often the case. I question whether water levels, # of rinses, target temps, etc. have suffered. The manual looks almost identical to the 3038 but that doesn't say much.

@MamaP - We are most likely staying in our condo, and trying to commit to at least another 5 years here. Our neighborhood is on fire right now and, barring another recession, we stand to see the value of our property appreciate significantly in that time. Part of staying will be justifying a few upgrades, and the laundry room may be one.

@Linus - I remember seeing some clips of that continuous-duty Miele set a few years back. Very impressive. And agree on the difference between the residential and pro models.

Good decision Alex, if you have reason to believe the neighborhood is on the ups, it would be smart to stay and sell when the time is more profitable to you...good luck and we will all be watching for your new Miele to be delivered.

I was also going to purchase the W3038 and T8023c until I noticed the W3048 and T8033c appear on their website. From the info gathered, the updates were only for DOE energy requirement changes and the max spin speed was increased on the washer. Although information is conflicting when talking to different Miele departments, and the spec sheets are identical. Still no availability date on the T8033c dryer.

Please do let us know what you hear back regarding the W1/T1 USA release. One contact at Miele confirmed 'later this year, but no firm date', but everyone else I've spoken with said 'maybe in a few years'

Would be upsetting to purchase the W3048 and have the W1 with twindos come out right after! However, I do wonder if they will keep the W3048 around as a 'classic line' and bring the W1 in as a premium version or middle tier between the LiGi given their increasing push in the US.

Maybe whirlpool_trainee can weigh in on whether the new W1753 in Canada is based on the W1. Right now it's "not approved for use in the United States". But will it stay that way? They did go to the expense of "North Americanizing" the programs and options, and selling it in the US would maximize their return...unless it cannibalizes Little Giant sales here. The W1753 is a 240V machine, and the installation manual mentions the "Easy Installation Kit" that will let it share a 240V outlet with a Miele dryer.

That set up looks like the one at the Miele Gallery in Toronto (well Vaughn).

Hi Alex,

Here is the information I have for you:

1. The expected launch date is late 2017 for W1/T1 and there will be a family of product; they will both take 120V. [edit: I assume this means the family of washers will take 120v, not that the dryer is 120v\]
2. Differences between the W3038 and W3048 are minor, the updated model will have a white lid insert (vs. stainless), the spin speed goes up to 1600 RPM and the standby power is reduced to meet EPA requirements.

I had a look at miele canada and the model W 1753 is not from the new line W1.

The W 1753 were from the line 1000 that came out about 8-10 years ago with the 7000 line in dryers. These machines are fased out overhere and there will only be the classic and the new W 1 series.

Having said this, I have had the W 1714 washer and 7644 dryer for abit over 8 years now and they are workhorses. Even though I have 3 machines most washings are done in the Miele.

Had 2 problems: the heating element got covered in limescale and shorted out, got replaced under warranty, and the air hoze for the drainpump got clogged, fixed that my self. If I look over a year I propobly use the washer everyday.

Thanks for forwarding the comments from Miele! Thinking I'm better to go with the current models than 2 year waiting game for the W1. I never even noticed the W3038 had a stainless top as I always saw them stacked and it's removed when the stack panel is installed.

Does anyone know if the T8033c dryer is worth waiting for? I imagine nothing was changed except for the energy standby requirements, but I was hoping they would have at least upgraded the interior light to the bright LED to match the washing machine.

Glad my research helped. Happy to be of assistance. I checked out the manual for the T8033c dryer and the page for changing the bulb looks identical to its predecessor so I'm doubtful that it has been upgraded to LED.

I am in the same boat as you. No way will I now wait a year+ for the T1/W1, especially knowing that they won't be returning to 220v. Additionally, TwinDos does not interest me (watch me eat these words later). I am a detergent hoarder and would get bored letting the machine dose for me. The PowerWash recirculator looks pretty nifty, though, if that feature is brought over.

At this point I will likely either pick up a 3038 when they go on clearance making way for the 3048 or I will purchase a reconditioned old-school Miele (which I'm leaning toward). I'm actually about to head out the door now to meet the electrician about rewiring my laundry closet. Cheers...

Regional Management hides from 20-year Miele client! We've been long-standing high-end Miele clients. 2 sets of W/D's, 5 vacuums, 2 dishwashers, a Professional Ironing System, and most recently a 3rd dishwasher for our new home build.
In 2018 we purchased the G6875 SCViSF dishwasher (the current version of this model is the G7566 SCViSF). $2500 price in 2018. In 2020 it began stopping mid-cycle with a "Intake valve" error message. Of course, it was out of warranty, but I loved my first Miele and wanted to have this fixed. A "certified trained technician" conducted the assessment and determined it would require several parts to fix. 30 days & $1278 later, it was "allegedly" fixed.
Sadly this didn't last long. The infamous "Intake Valve" error message would randomly return. We recently sold the home and the new owners reached out regarding the "Intake Valve" error message and who we recommend.
I reached out to the Chicago Exp Center (as directed by the Center Mgr from a prior discussion about our experience) since our vendors are within their territory. After 2 days on a merry-go-round and sent to the "888" customer service vortex, I was informed no one from the management would be following up with me, nor would there be any resolution from Miele, due to "insufficient" documentation of the events post the $1278 repair.
We purchase "high-end" for quality and service, and not many folks out there want to spend $2500 on a dishwasher, they prefer to spend $600 and replace it every 4-5 years.
The "888" vortex is even worse; it's nothing more than a cue card interrogation and the second you provide an incorrect answer (according to their cue card), the call is ended as there's nothing that can be done.
This is a disgrace for a company that "prides itself on quality and service".
If management can't face a 20-year client, who has spent tens of thousands of dollars on the Miele product line, they have no business being in management.
My experience will continue to be shared in hopes of saving someone else the horrific customer service I've had to endure. BUYER BEWARE & BE GONE!
