First, the background....

We have two black lab mix dogs.

One we have had since 4 months and is fine. He's a black lab/pit bull mix and is so sweet.

The other we got at 18 months and was a rescue. We know he was abandoned and was on the brink of death when found by animal rescue. He's now very healthy 90# dog (we think he's lab/great dane mix. Much bigger than just a "lab") He's a GOOD, sweet, gentle giant. But he has severe seperation anxiety.

My dogs are inside dogs with a doggie door so they can go in/out as they please.

We're almost always home. The most we ever leave is a few hours. When we go out of town, we take them with us or my mother will stay at our house and doggie sit.

If we do leave, Dudley (the rescue) is fine for about 20 minutes, then will get anxious and try to get something food out of the sink, or on the counter. If there is nothing, then he will eat a remote control, book, or anything in a baggie that might be food. We're working with a doggie behaviorist but it's slow progress.

My concern is we are wanting to move into a bigger home, possibly on bigger property with much more room for us and the dogs. Selling the house isn't the problem-- I can take them with me for all showings.

We live in an area that houses typically sell within 2 days for over asking price. I've been warned that I need to have a new place figured out, because most houses will close within 15-30 days.

The detail that is completely stressing me out (I am having nightmares about it) is that when we sell the house, where will we go while waiting to close on the new one???

We cannot afford buying a new home without selling ours first (we need the equity for the new home!) So while we can look at new homes now, in our area nobody will accept a contract contingency upon our home selling.

We are a family of 5 plus 2 big black dogs. All the apartments that do short term leases have said no way. Houses for rent in this area typically want a minimum of 1 year lease which we will not need and most do not want large black dogs.

So far, I haven't found any of those long stay hotels that are willing to take a family of 5 plus 2 large dogs. (one would, but we would have to do two suites at a total of $3k a month)

I asked a realtor and she said she had no idea. (really???)

I will NOT board the dogs. I cannot do that to them. Especially Dudley, I'm worried what it would do to him emotionally at this point.

They cannot go to my parents house (my dad is scared of them, he is 73 and afraid they will knock him down). No other family within driving distance that is capable of taking us/them.

Any thoughts or advice?
