i love it! sounds crazy...but a large part of the urge to eat when you arent hungry is indeed satisfied by 'eye candy'.

i bought a bunch of glass candy when i was in venice (i'm not into buying carnival masks...) and in a candy dish they completely satisfy me. i just touch them walking by... the pretty colors are what makes candy (and donuts) appealing.

Yummy! Nnigrt - eye candy is great, but nothing like tasting!!

i am going to make a leap here and assume you know nothing about donuts? you do not have them in australia? if not, try some CA, they will send your blood sugar through the roof!

We do have them here but I avoid them, used to get a bag of 6 for the kiddles, fresh off the donut machine on the way to school pick up (& otherwise hot chips from the fish & chip shop)...until OS developed an unhealthy yearning for them & started gaining weight.

Now he is a chef, funny is life eh?

yeah, don't think they use machines over here they are deep fried and have the holes in the middle.

funny, exebil, mother was a homeec teacher, loved the microwave. made food you die from not for. made spaghetti sauce from a packet and scrambled eggs in the microwave. took longer than in a pan! anyway, after a failed cooking lesson while with us, he became a chef. of course, not before studying to be a marine scientist.

I think it is quite a nice piece of art work, love the colours and the way it has been painted not exactly to look like food as in a magazine but like a work of art in its texture and paint application of brush strokes.

It wouldn't make me hungry but if it increases guests appetite while waiting for a meal, that's fine with me lol. As for me personally, I don't like cakes much unless it is a plain sponge like lemon cake or treacle pudding ( home made too).
