Chandelier finish

Having a hardtime with the finish of this chandelier. It is the Chaumont chandelier by Troy lighting. It is supposed to be a Driftwood color but it reads more white with gold. The walls are Standish White by BM, it is a warm yellow. Im worried the chandelier withh disappear/ blend into the wall too much. The table is darker too. The one that is hanging now is a cheapy one from home depot that the previous owners put in snd maybe im just used to seeing a dark fixture up there which is why this new one seems off. Would you keep a darker fixture there or would this new lighter one be ok?

It looks a little pale to me too.

I don't know that you have to have dark metal, but I do think you need more presence than this. Not sure whether that means light metal is out, but you'll need to see...

(I'm less concerned with color than with thickness, since I think disappearing against the windows is a big risk.)

Alternatively, maybe you can get something dark that feels more like your taste.

It will fade into the wall color, but it can be a nice look for a room...more airy and light. It really depends on how you want the room to feel, but I think it will be quite pretty with the contrasting dark wood of your table.

I love your chandelier and I would paint the walls before I gave up that chandelier.

I would use your chandelier. It is so unique and will be a focal point. I think it w ill be fine with light walls.

I like it...with the room as is. Lighted it will be beautiful.

You do not mention a rug. Do you have one? Not everything in a room can be a focal point.

I actually dont have one. I had a green and cream kilim there but when i painted the walls yellow the whole room looked a bit overloaded . Maybe ill put it down again to see if it changes the look. Or find a different one. Thats the pattern on the pic. Just didnt know if the room was looking more "fairy garden" than formal dining. Either way, im selling the house so as long as it photographs well i should be ok.

I agree if you are selling leave the old chandelier, won't make any difference to buyers.

Hang dark drapes or blinds. When closed at night the fixture will pop. Colours that are coming into trend now are burgundy and dark blue. Colours for 2017 coming in will be terracotta, raspberry and dark green. Dark and moody is in.

I see you're selling, so go for dark blue. It's acceptable to more buyers.

Yes I actually had planned on putting it up to sell with the house just because the market in my area has a lot of homes for sale, most of which are very vanilla/ basic on the inside and wanted a bit of wow factor to stand out from the other homes. Unfortunately this guy is not really giving me wow in that room so he may come to a new home with us after all...Thank you for all your input!

I would add curtain panels with the new chandelier.

If you feel the chandelier is too light paint it. Add a darker stain to it , it would look wonderful; then rub doe gold wax over that.

It's a beautiful size and shape. Adding shades will add more too it also.
