Galley kitchen "before" - Pub style kitchen "after"!

cjastin
When buying our home my husband and I knew we wanted an older home with lots of character. We also knew that we wanted to remodel the inside of our home to be more modern. The one thing my husband really wanted was a huge kitchen with an island -- not easy to find in an older home. Somehow I convinced him that this galley kitchen could be made into a "pub style" kitchen that would still be comfortable and inviting for guests. We think it turned out great! See what you think...

The brick, is it wallpaper? I have brick wallpaper all along the center dividing wall between my place & our connected rental property on the other side of the house. It looks real because it's from actual photography. People still get the feeling of being near a brick wall & have to really stare to see that it's just paper!

No, this is reclaimed brick that's about 1/2" thick. I like the idea of the wallpaper though! Very creative and cost effective!

I love the blue paint! Great color! Great contrast with white coat pegs hanging on the wall. Terrific with the black tile. My favorite part of your remodel!

    Great decorating!

Great character and charm. Is it hard to keep the slate behind the range clean tho??

Thanks for all of your kind comments! I'm actually realizing that the main "after" photo I originally added is missing. Weird! I'll try to reload it. Elliwhittaker, the fridge is a Jenn-Air and we just love it!

Wow, this looks great! It also happens to be practically the same layout as our galley kitchen and we're planning on putting in an L-shaped eating nook as you have. Were the benches built onsite? Is that something a carpenter does or did you order it somewhere? How about the table?

  • cjastin

Thanks Lisa! The benches were part of the plans that the cabinet makers designed and installed. Similarly, the table was part of the countertop plans. Good luck with your project!

Nice job - different look. All the open shelves look nice but will force one to stay clean and clutter free.

Love the blue star 48. I say the star of the kitchen. Open burners are a cooks dream. I went with kitchen aid commercial at substantial discount which I could not pass up however I had looked into all open burner ranges blue star capital etc. looks like you have matching rangehood as well.
