Hello,

A few days ago, our second floor toilet overflowed and caused some damage to the ceiling below it. It never got to the point where there was enough water dripping through the ceiling on to the first floor, just enough to see a few drips. We were home at the time so the problem didn't last long and we were able to put some fans to dry the mess up fairly quickly.

I'm wondering if it is necessary to cut out the drywall and replace the problem area, or if I can scrape away the edges at the seam and re-mud the area? Thanks for your help and suggestions!

Pat
