Tuck a more inviting grouping under the stairs with a round foyer table...

or drop a gorgeous chandy over one out in the center.

The three pieces of furniture you have there don't seem to relate. A foyer should inform guests about you, your style and what to expect in the adjoining spaces.

It might help if you explained what you like and hate, and what you think of as your style type. For example, are you just frustrated with the process, or do you feel that you have gone astray with the pieces that are there now, or...?

(For what it's worth, I think that the dresser and the front door are fighting, both in terms of color tones and overall styles. One of them must change.)

I need furniture ideas ? I have no clue

I would start with removing the love seat. Go with deco's suggestion and look for a round foyer table for that space. I like the mirror but the buffet piece looks out of place. I agree with acm's suggestion to find something more in sync with your door...which is nice! Your rug and staircase are also nice!

Try the settee there. The dresser is just too heavy feeling, and the settee color may have the same effect, but try it. You can always put a large plant in a really pretty container under the stairs.

I think you should remove the sofa from that area as it's too big and then have another look - or you could remove everything and then look with fresh eyes? I like the idea of a seating area under the stairs with a round table but it's hard to tell as there's no photo of that wall to see how much space you have.

to me, a foyer that size with what looks like marble floors and high ceilings etc. is designed to accomodate the guest and show them that you are wealthy enough to have a space that does not fulfill a lot of function. I feel your rug is a little underwhelming, but if that is your preference, we will leave it. one way to deal with the area is a very nice round center table with a nice arrangement or statue on it. or you can forgo that and have a very nice desk size table with maybe a chair in one spot. the purpose of a table would be to allow you to write something like a check for donation, or read over some papers dropped off. Both done without inviting the other person into your home. you could also have an ornate bench so guests may take off their shoes if need be. or a fancy coat rack. finally you can have 2-3 very nice pieces of art. or else one or 2 glass etegeres with objet d' art. it is not designed to be designed like every other room. it is for strangers to get the best opinion of you and not see the rest of your home, and for guests to have a place to put coats, hats, wraps, shoes, etc. when they visit.

Love Have Fun's ideas. I'm not sure what your budget is but I think you are in need of a new light fixture. This is a semi-flush light that you can hang a little lower if you decide to go with the center table idea. I would do a bench straight across under the stairs for guest to take off and put on shoes. This rugs still has the traditional style but a little more updated and I think the colors suit your space better.

Too much going on in the entry. Open it up by removing things....start with the curio cabinet behind the door.

Straighten the pillows on the settee.

Put a picture over the console. The mirror just looks empty esp. beside the window.

A light that's more of a chandelier. It doesn't have to be over-the-top but large enough that it won't look dinky.

sorry, missed the concept of a chandelier, in this spot it is definitely appropriate, though i would lean towards a moral old fashioned type. all those lovely crystals to dance about the space.

Are you trying any of the ideas suggested?

Yes, if I put a table in the middle it doesn't center over the light? if I do that than what do I put against the wall ?

unless I buy a swag for a chandelier ?? Your thoughts?

I would not put a table on the rug. I would remove the settee (see your other post for re-do on that) Get a rectangular rug (find another home for the rd one.) Is the settee to big to fit on the wall under the mirror? You need to remove all those giant pillows off of it>

If the settee will not fit then keep the console there and get a painting above the console and take down the mirror. I agree with a large chandelier for the area but again change out the rd rug and no table on it.
