Empty walls.

My dining room used to be white and covered with multicolored-and-textured frames with pictures of family and friends and I LOVED it. But when it was time to touch up the paint, I tried some color and am not impressed. I feel like the color on walls makes the room too heavy and that hanging all my frames (even if I painted them all white for an anchor) would look cluttered.

I homeschool my children, so the letter line (and soon-to-be-number-line below it) are integral to the function of this dining/school room!

Am i far off on the cluttered theory? Any ideas? (I miss my white walls, but my husband really likes this color, so I'm trying to make it work!)

I think you could use wood frames to match the table and floor. and...useful art is as helpful as view able art so if you hung two wood frame chalk boards you could use them for homeschooling lessons :) Oh and I put in a world theme valance..sometimes a little flair in a room for homeschooling will make the work more interesting.

It's difficult to tell that you have color on the wall...is it a sage green??? I think the room looks stark- no obvious color or personality. I surely would add SOME art work or a few photos. Yes, too many can look cluttered. How about some roman shades or even a simple valance in a print for the windows? Could you add some simple décor on the buffet or do you need it clear for home school as well????

I did have a small chalkboard proped up against the wall on the buffet table surrounded by decor and am able to do something similar again, but I currently having a 5x3oot chalkboard cut for an alternate wall in the room which is not pictured. I hadn't really thought of the possibility of Roman shades over the window. I will definitely explore.thanks!

What if you paint the window wall a color and the other walls white?

I would go ahead and put up your pictures as you had them before. If it doesn't look right, repaint the wall. I don't see paint color as affecting the use of art (only what colors you can use for the art).

I think leave as is and hang what you are focusing on, school wise, on the walls. You can change that as needed and the uncluttered look makes it easier for kids to focus.
