Are the cabinets deep green?

no, they are very dark brown. Almost black.

I'd go with a very pale shade of yellow to blend with the other yellow walls.

I want to change the yellow walls as well.

The cabinets and countertop are neutral, so you can paint whatever color you like - cream, gray, green, etc. Color is very personal. If you are keeping the yellow walls in the other parts of the house though, I would stick with a cream color. Paint the kitchen door the same color as the cabinets.

Have you chosen art or fabric for those areas?

I like BM Grey Cashmere. Another neural that you might safer is SW Analytical Grey.

I would paint the adjoining dining room Grey Cashmere without any more information.


I would suggest that you look at your furnishings to decide on paint colors.

I would be prone to move into the place and them decide on paint colors especially if you plan to acquire new furnishings.

I'd say either Navajo white or Ivoire for kitchen, then Netsuke or Nacre for dining. All SW.

I just painted my kitchen and dining area in three shades of grey. Looks great and will look better when my concrete counter top (white with grey marble looking) is installed.

I would stick to a slight cream color to pick up on your granite and paint the entire space the same. It will create a blank slate for your other choices - chair upholstery fabric, rug, roman blinds in kitchen, etc - all spots to add your blue if you like that color. Linen White by Benjamin Moore for example would be a lovely color with your cabinets and floor also - which also have to be considered. See 2nd picture with a similar color with blue.

@slparish2, that photo I sent you does not state the paint colour unfortunately. I tried playing around on the Sherwin Williams app to see if I could get a read on the colour, and it came up as SW Portico, which seemed dark to me.

I think the SWDistance is much too dark with your cabinets.

This is SWportico and below shows it in a room with dark furniture and white trim. Looks too pink to me, which is something to watch for with warm neutrals.

This is SW Grecian Ivory, and here it is on a house with dark door and white trim.

Sherwin Williams Modern Grey

Sorry I was going to add it's going to be difficult to narrow down the perfect paint colour for you from your photos. The current bright orange throws everything off, and we don't have an close up of the granite, plus colours look different on everyone's screen. Mine are suggestions of some colour chips to look into, so when you go to the paint store you may know what general direction you want to go in. Bring home lots of paint chips, see what works with cabinets, granite, flooring and try to narrow it down until you get a few to get samples with. Then paint sample colours on some large cardboard or something similar to put in different areas of the room and also see how they look at different times of the day. I suggest priming walls before trying this though, because as I said the orange will throw colours off.
