In general, you have all the furniture elements present. A round table is a great solution for the space.

I would like to add new furniture and get rid if what I have. I was thinking a sectional maybe with some colors

A sectional could work. And possibly a small side chair as well to add more options to the sitting area. A new TV console may be nice too- perhaps mounting the TV on the wall too. As for colours, your flooring and walls are neutral and so if there is a colour that you like or want to try and you are replacing all of the furniture, then the world is your oyster!

Also, with the purchase of a large piece, like a sectional, I like a neutral colour and then amping it up with accent pillows and accessories.

the flooring is grey, kitchen cabinets are deep brown, so I had thought of a blue sectional, but my husband likes neutrals too. I am just so over browns that I do need color.

Your place just needs some fine tuning. See my suggested arrangement below. Please don't use the light from the overhead fan. The quality is quite poor and doesn't enhance the appearance of your apartment.

If there is enough room, I would place the lounge chair and sofa at right angles to one another with the ottoman in front for both to use. I would find some round nesting coffee tables to use in front so that they can be small or expanded as needed.

Place a nice size round end table in the corner large enough for a much larger table lamp and still room for a cup of coffee or sandwich. Only white linen shades on your lamps. Place the tree in the opposite corner with small up lights beneath the tree to add a bit of light and drama to your space.

Place your dining chairs on the diagonal around your table. You'll be surprised the difference that makes in your room. If you have no electric for a chandelier, then purchase a hanging votive holder using remote controlled LED votive candles for some atmosphere for your room. The remote controlled LED votives can be ordered through Amazon. Place a floor lamp next to the media cabinet for additional light.

Yes, but you can see from the photos that the space, at certain times likely requires more light in the space.

I think you did pretty good with the layout. The one thing I would suggest is to maybe change the dark art on the wall to something with more color. Another change could be a more interesting and edgy rug, more color instead of the brown as most things in the room are beige/brown.

I want to make this room blend with colors as well, any suggestions on that? Floors are grey, cabinets are dark brown with black appliance. Counter top is granite. I am planning on changing furniture and colors.

Do something classic in your selection of furnishings so it can be used in future homes.

I advise against a sectional. It will limit current and future furniture arrangements. A sofa and 2 chairs would look nice. Do you have little ones? If not, white or off-white furniture would allow you to choose colorful accent pieces (pillows, etc.)
