Is bluestone a bad choice?

We are installing a new front walkway and planned on using natural bluestone. Our hardscaper does not think this is a good choice and instead is recommending unilock pavers. He says that bluestone is not as durable and will become very slippery during our Midwestern winters. Do you agree?

Bluestone is a mainstay here in PA, get a great grade of stone and thickness along with correct prep, will last longer then you. Get additional opinions from local hardscape pros.

Whether or not it's slippery depends on how it's finished.
