Overrun with string algae

I was hoping someone could share some tips on how to do away with string algae in larger ponds.

Our pond is about 3700 gallons and this year the string algae has run wild, we have attempted to remove it manually and scrub the rocks, use various algaecides, i.e. algae fix and green clean, all to no avail.

Now it seems that our string algae is starting to come to the surface of the pond.

We have a skimmer and a waterfall, no mechanical filtration other then quilt batting, etc. I'm considering a skippy type filter or a uv light.

Any tips? Thanks!
