I found lots that fit the problem I'm having is does it go with those chairs? They have that swoop arm, should the sofa follow? I really do like the one I found but I'm just not sure it goes.

It looks like Bette and I are on the same page, stylistically.

I dont really love the style of those....BUT if that goes better with the gray chairs that I have.

Danielle, the style of the sofa you chose does not go with the chairs. I love the chairs btw. A sofa that coordinates with the chairs should have an arm style and leg style that is similar or identical to the chairs, imo. So the two sofas suggested by Carolyn and Bette work well. I would go with the style of those sofas. With a small room, the open style arm is a better choice as well.

I think the Avec sofa from CB2 might work for you. I am thinking a light blue would be a nice contrast to the dark grey. They have two sizes but I am thinking the apartment size which is 65" long might be a good size for you. Another thing you may want to look at if you must have a white sofa is velvet micro fiber. They clean up nicely or get a sofa that has a Sunbrella fabric on it that you can wipe down with a diluted bleach solution for tough stains. Just my own personal opinion...it looks like you have a lot of white or off white in your home already... don't be afraid to add some color like the blue sofa. I think you will love your room all the more for it.

You mentioned you wanted the room to be informal since you already have a formal living room. Before choosing the sofa, do you have a favourite informal photo to post that is close to the true vibe you are after?

I find it helpful to look at the height of the seat cushion. Your sofa seat should be close to the same height as your chair seats. I find a lower arm or an arm that is set back from the front works well in a small space to give a more spacious feel.

You could post a photo of your room showing where your chairs would be placed. Are the backs a bit higher, similar to a modern wingback style?

I can for sure post an inspiration photo and a photo of the space tonight when i get home from work. The chairs are high back yes. A modern wingback is probably a good explanation of them.

Can you return the chairs, and start over by picking the sofa first?

you can tie the two pieces together by bringing that dark grey on your chairs onto a throw pillow on your sofa. For the sofa, I'd choose something clean lined, maybe in a neutral linen looking fabric. Just remember to keep the lines of the sofa like the styling of the chair, clean and contemporary. so nothing overstuffed or traditional

I actually have a photo of the room it's a bit messy and the TV stand MUST go but until I find one its there.
I can't return the chairs we have had them for a month now. I also can't afford to replace them and a sofa and a tv stand. I need to work with the chairs I have.

Yes I will totally accessorize with throws and pillows for sure! Do a dark blanket on the sofa and pillows on the chairs to help lighten up the chairs a bit.

ill change out pillows and also the ottoman doesnt have to stay but its nice footstool for the chairs is all. Im excited to accessorize with pillows, blankets and books etc but I was trying to wait until I saw the sofa in the room. ALSO that horrid TV stand picking out a new one of those....

Your chairs are a contemporary version of the wing chair. The sofa you like does not seem to go with the chairs. Your sofa need not have the same look as the chairs but they should be clean lined as you see in the sofas that 3 of us have shown you. To me your chairs appear to be chocolate colored though someone else sees them as gray. What color are they?

They are a dark charcoal. They have a herringbone pattern to them once your up close. Ill try to find something similar to above, Im just having a hard time with the ones pictured above because I feel like they just look like every other sofa BUT its more important that the style matches the chairs I guess.

The CB2 sofa is nice but I dont really like modern furniture. Our formal furniture is restoration hardware, tufted etc.

I think it would work. Have you looked at IKEA? There are white sofas with slipcovers that can be removed and washed.

Yeah I've bought IKEA sofas and after a couple years they are just flat and uncomfortable. I'm trying to avoid having to do this again in two years. I'm not good at this...I seem to have a knack for liking things that either don't go or are ridiculously expensive.

You have good taste so I am sure you will find the right sofa. You lean towards modern and that will complement the chairs. If you want cream check out the sunbrella fabrics. They are indestructible. Ballard and PB carry them. I suspect more retailers will eventually carry them too.
I wouldn't hesitate to use those chairs with a chesterfield style sofa.

The sofa I like at pottery barn does come in sunbrella fabric so that is great! Thanks all! I'm still loving the org sofa I posted from wayfair though. I'm not sure I want to pass on it, basically a chesterfield. The nailhead don't match. The chair have silver and the sofa has bronze but other than that I love it.

Do not get a sofa with a different color of nailhead trim. In fact, with the nailhead on the chairs, I'd choose a sofa without.

i think our "alexa" style would look lovely with your chairs. and it still has the fabulous diamond tufted back, without being all matchy-matchy to your living room chesterfield. our sofas can be made any size and in any fabric.
