We live in a splitlevel with all bedrooms and the basement being utilized and we desperately need work space. The floor plan is an open one where you walk into the livingroom through the eat-in kitchen and into the familyroom addition. The livingroom is unnecessary! Should I move the table in and make it our dining room and make the original eating area into a work station with a built-in desk, bulletin board etc? Or should I make it an office/ library with a large desk in the middle of the room? My concern is that this is the room you walk right into when entering the house so which idea is less awkward?
