I wouldn't paint that lovely bar. Also not sure orange would compliment your flooring. Not sure WHICH wall you mean...is it the one in the first photo ON the right...or the one in the second photo that has the vase and greens or ???

I would add tile up to the ceiling behind the floating shelves on that wall as wide as granite...I would not paint....add texture.....mosaic glass tiles would be beautiful! you can add some art on the wall that is left of the door.

You can't paint the wall, but you add accessories.

No, I think we have all been posting about the bar wall and not your empty wall. Your idea about floating geometric shelves would be lovely. Or that is a great place for a huge piece of art ( even canvas art) that ties in your orange, brown, gray and white.) Perhaps something abstract. Some thoughts:

There's a buffet table on the opposite end of the blank wall. You can see a little glimpse of it's darker gray color in second picture. What would you put there? Was thinking a round mirror? Geometric shelves?

Joanna, it might not work so well with your carpet. An easy way to compare colors is to take a screen shot of the painting/canvas and then move it next to the above photo in your post of your bar. That way you can see how it would look.

I am going to disagree. I think the idea of painting that wall is a terrific way to go. Orange may be a bit too overwhelming for an area that huge, but you can purchase several sample colors and paint portions of the wall and live with them for a bit before choosing one.

THEN, after painting the wall, I would invest in some art--but not something mass produced. If you want this to reflect you and your personality, this is a great opportunity to buy a piece of original artwork--maybe something in black and white (if you end up going with a dramatic color for the wall). We are just heading into Art Festival season, and this is the perfect time of year to check out the local art scene wherever you live. Even if you don't find that perfect something, if you find someone whose style you like, they make something especially for you and your space! What could be better than that?

I guess it depends on what you use the buffet for. If it is for storage and not used formally, then you could do shelving over. Not crazy about the geometric shelving but maybe floating shelves. The problem with shelving is the stuff that goes on it is usually small and looks cluttered. A large mirror with lamps on the buffet and two chairs , one on each side would give that wall some interest. Let me find some photos....

so just a few different ideas for inspiration.
