Rina-we think they must have put the old linoleum down with like liquid nails or something because every square inch was glued down really really hard. And it was glued to another layer of linoleum, which was also glued down the same way. We ended up having a guy use a machine that essentially melted the adhesive so that we could scrape it all up.
