Your looking at dishwashers at least 16 yrs old then. Modern dishwashers are so much more efficient and quiet, I wouldn't put any money into them.

I would agree with all of the above. A new Viking starts at about $1099 I believe in stainless and is built by Blomberg who makes a good quality machine.

Alternatively you could get a bosch or miele for a similar price point and get a top quality machine. You will save water and electricity too.

Do the generics not fit? Were those the Vikings made by Asko, and if so are there less expensive Asko racks that fit?

While the dishwashers probably do need replacing, there are so many expenses with moving, that a hundred dollars for generic racks for one, if they'll fit, will provide a working DW without having to worry about what kind of replacement to buy, monkeying with the plumbing and cabinets, and considering whether the whole kitchen needs updating.

Thanks all. Since there are 2 DWs, I will hope one lasts longer than the other so I don't have to replace them quite yet! I think the kitchen is about 19 years old but has been very lightly used.

Check eBay. Not unusual to find used parts offerings in reasonable condition. Also local appliance dealers and refurb shops who may keep serviceable used parts from trade-in units.

were you able to find reasonably priced replacements(top rack) for your Viking dishwashers?
