Exterior-Mixed material?

We are adding stone to the gables, but don't want it to go all the way up. Should we do the shingle look or Hardie plank siding like on the rest of the house? How high up should stone go?

The stone will be Coronado stone- country rubble/aspen and the house color is gauntlet gray like on last photo.

If you do a mix of stone and hardie, I would do stone on the gable walls up to the eaves and then shingles from there to the peak, not siding, gable peaks look better with shingles.

I also think stone all the way would look very good as well.

I would accent your pillars with more beams and also matching stone around the base.

I suggest doing it as was done in the picture you posted; stone, then siding and shingles on top.
