it's so hard to tell, camera sensors and colorspaces respond differently to the "real" color of many cultivars

But it oddly resembles my 'Sefton'...which I bought because the Greer catalog made it sound better than it was. I keep it for sentimental reasons only. That being said it could be a number of other old cultivars. A cultivar that actually does have an interesting off-plum color is 'Old Port' - the real clone, a misnamed one is circulating in the PNW. My 'Old Port' hasn't bloomed but I've seen it at the Tyler. It does look like transilluminated wine - not as brownish as port but that's a good thing!

Pictures one and three are the real 'Old Port'; two is definitely wrong.

David, thank you for your thorough response. I believe that you're 'spot on' with Septon. I am usually to be found in the Roses Forum. We post thousands of pictures of roses and know how difficult it is to picture the many different shades of especially reds. Cellphones will let you down in that area. So I took the pictures with a better camera to avoid ID problems. Thank you again!!
