Hi everyone - I'm having a dilemma choosing between rangetops. Both will be the same price, but they each have some drawbacks:

Miele 36inch, 6 burner rangetop:

- Free 10 year warranty

- Requires 6 inches of clearance on either side all the way to the ceiling (i.e. no cabinets can sit right next to the vent hood.) I don't have the luxury of being able to move my cabinets out that much. So - they will install what is called a BTU Reduction Kit (or Zero Gap Kit). Effectively they will reduce the BTU output from 19,500 on 5 burners to 15,500 and the simmer burner will be reduced from 12,000 BTU to 10,000 BTU and then the 6 inches of clearance is not required.

- Illuminated control knobs

Wolf 36inch, 6 Burner rangetop

- Standard 2 year warranty, but can increase the warranty to 6 years for an extra $500

- For some reason, Wolf does not require the 6 inch clearance, provided the cabinets are at least 18 inches high. Which they would be. Their burner specs are: 1x20,000 BTU, 2x18,000 BTU, 2x15,000 BTU and 1x9200 BTU

So the question is how much will I need a 20,000 or 18,000 BTU burner and is it worth getting that over a 10 year warranty? We currently have a 30inch Kitchen Aid gas range with 1 15,000 BTU burner and it's the only burner we use.

What does everyone think? What would you do?
