@tgb1, it is in the Alaska White family...the store I purchased from has their own names, but I believe it to be Alaskan White.

Beautiful stone! The backsplash you're showing looks to have pink undertones while the granite looks to have gray undertones. Not sure if its my monitor or what. I'd just want to be sure that whatever you select does not have any pink at all. You need to check it under all lighting conditions.

Your granite is beautiful. Let it be the star. I would go with a simple subway tile.

The simpler the better since the granite has an lot of activity. Since you don't want subway, the pattern of the tile in your first photo, in a less pink tone, with grout as close to the tile color as possible might be a good choice. Contrasting grout would be way too busy.

We have the same countertops and went with a stacked stone mosaic as well, albeit entirely different color as we have dark cabinets and a rustic contemporary style home. But love the countertops and the texture of the stacked stone mosaic B/S!

The stone you selected looks perfect to me and will complement your gorgeous granite. I don't see the pink tones others are mentioning....

As far as cleanability goes, even though you're not a big cooker, I still recommend 1) epoxy grout and 2) sealing the tiles.

@janecalle, love your kitchen, the granite pops with the dark cabinets. That was my first choice, but could not find anyone to stain the existing cabinets, so went with white (SW Alabaster) white lacquer.

leelee, thanks for the photo, that looks great. The undertones on my samples are more of a beige, could be the way the picture is coming through, but I will take a closer look for sure. I plan on looking for the mini ledger stone in the white quartzite for a sample and then hopefully get my kitchen back to operational :)

Yes your counter top is awesome looking, go with the whitish lighter color. What type and color will your floor be?

I'm going to the dark side here! I would do black or dark brown backsplash. Sorry I don't have any specific tile in mind.

Yes also agree with snied99, if to much white applied its all bland. Give the backsplash a accent to give the kitchen the look over the white color through out. Dark flooring and a darker backsplash would look great.

@Mountain MT Homes I am going with a dark Oak wood floor.

you should mention the dark back splash...I started out with that in
mind. I ordered a sample of American Olean Copper Brown Glass in a 2 x 8
size and I also found 4 x 4 aged bronze tiles from Daltile. The Glass
Copper Brown might have too much reflection and the 4 x 4 metal tile would
require me to empty the bank account :)

Like your choice as the metal one matches the color of the counter top. Little more money but worth it? and now is the time to pick out what is better. The glass 2 x 8 dark brown would set it off also very well.

Make sure to install under cabinet lighting especially with a dark backsplash.

@Mountain MT Homes the metal tiles are roughly $6.50 each, and I would need 9 tiles to make one square foot if I am doing my math correctly. I have roughly 20 square feet in total, so that would put me around $1,300 (adding waste of 10 %) just for the material...so, the white stone is looking even better now at $11/ sq ft :)

I prefer a lighter backsplash so I think you will be fine.

White would look absolutely stunning. It would also add to the beauty of the granite, without making it look busy.

I used the same granite in my kitchen with white cabinets and a medium brown wood floor. I remember agonizing over which type of backsplash to go with and the color to use. Ultimately I went with a very light beige 2x6 subway tile by Walker Zanger. It's been a couple of years and I still love it! Almost went with the all white but glad I didn't. Good luck I know how frustrating it can be making sure you end up with exactly what you envisioned. Here are a few pics. The tile appears darker in the photos.

Looks great there Lav1968! Back splash can be a little harder to figure out for the look between cabinetry top counter top to also flow well with the flooring!

@mark617 The tile cost is a bit high, but went well on colors. The lighter color would go great also! Wow $180 for a square foot of that tile.!? It does look good though.

Thank you Mountain MT Homes! I don't remember the price as it's been a awhile, however, I DO know I would never pay that much! It was a little more than I planned on spending but the colors all blended so perfectly so I did spend a little more than anticipated. But nothing too crazy.

No the price is from mark617, he said the tile he likes is $20 a piece and needs nine of them to make a square foot! That's a lot.

A white backsplash is definitely the way to go. Keep it clean and simple and your beautiful counter will pop.

@Lori Dennis, Inc. thank you for the input. I found an off white stone mosaic today that I like, will have the sample tomorrow for review. Crossing my fingers, but I at least know I have one backup option in the white stone photos above. I am considering the metal tile in a square on a diamond pattern just above the stove. That will keep it affordable, I hope...

Last 2 options, I think I know which one I am going with...the larger of the two mosaics pictured below. This is called Dolomite White, which is a honed marble, so not too much reflection and not too much variation in the stone...mostly white with some occasional veining, appearing to be grey/brown/burgundy. Feedback appreciated :)

One thing that might help you decide is to cover up the splotchy, uneven background where the other backsplash was. It's very distracting with the pattern of your counters.

This is the only dark backsplash I've ever seen that I thought looked nice--but the counters are solid. Just be careful.

Here is a photo of the kitchen, floors are in now and the drywall repaired...ordered tile, but had 12 week backorder. Now back to the drawing board...argh. I found a dark shadow (dark grey) glass subway tile and could use charcoal grout. But would dark grey and charcoal be too dark?

Wow! Looks great! Sorry you can't get the tile you selected. I'm afraid the dark gray will be too dark. I'd find a great white beveled subway. Hard to go wrong with a white that matches the cabs. If you want glass gray, I'd suggest very pale silvery gray with matching grout.

Hopefully you can find a light colored tile altho your kitchen will look great with either a light color is just more cheery, imho.

There was a thread on Alaska White granite BS choices that had loads of photos that might help. Keep an eye on the floors in these photos, since that is also part of the outcome. The OP ended up with a light grey tile (Walker Zanger Pipesmoke). Your kitchen is lovely.

Here is a grey/brown/taupe glass that might work. I was able to find the random linear stone mosaic and in the process saw this...the sample of granite you see in this photo is my cutting board which is the example of the strong creamy tones that are throuought my counters.

With grout...Looks like a darker grout might have been a better choice.

Possible on the darker grout but Mark it looks good! The counter top flows with the backsplash to the cabinets!

Thank you, Ken, I really appreciate the feedback and the kind words. I am considering going with the dark bronze electrical outlets to add some interest...not sure if I should just go white and blend them in, or go dark for a little bit of accent.

Hey Mark I would go the bronze color! Get one of each and install and pick, that's what we did. The dark ones would look better to me.
