The print is dense so I think a solid would be best. However, a very tight stripe would be a great accent too for a pillow and draperies.

I would go for red or pure white in a linen or linen-look material. Your bed is black and the carpet grey, so beige might look "dirty". Can you move your bed with the headrest against the wall on the left? A throw on the bed will look good - also in red. What else is in the room?

OP asked about her headboard .... May I ask what black headboard adds to the mix-- Is it leather / to toughen, modernize the bedding. Seems you'd have more flexibility with another headboard. But I'm not trying to criticize at all.

I like a flowy curtain - coral and bit of black seems modern. You could have a blackout shade under it, flat against.

Thank you everyone! Love the ideas! I am planning on moving the bed to the left! Trying to get rid of a couple old dressers in our room first then was going to purchase a black newer dresser since the room is small we only really need one! The reason the curtains are short is because the radiator underneath the window! The black headboard came with the platform bed and is a leather material!!

Perhaps you could replace the curtains with a blind

HI -- Groan ......for such a young woman this floral pattern is so granny looking . So I think you should just have a natural woven wood roman blind with a black ribbon trim border . This will then tie the headboard and the dresser with the window covering . Then pick up accent colors from the bedding . An easy cover for the radiator could be a scrap piece of tempered glass or marble or quartz set on top .

I hear that every room needs just a touch of black [maybe], but when I read that you want even more black, with a delicate pattern, I don't like... sorry.

Better if matte or distressed black -- but why not the neutral blue from the bedding in furniture? Unless you brighten up the rest of the room [curtain, lampshade in the coral/rose] I'm afraid those pieces will drag down the bedding...

Thanks again for your posts. I will take in everyone's ideas... I do love quilts and patterns. I definitely do not think of them as granny looking...... Actually they're making most of them look so much more modern looking now. Everyone has different opinions though

I like the red long drapery. How about a solid,monogramed throw pillow. Or, you could do a ticking stripe for sheet set and do ticking long drapes. Hang a portrait over the bed that picks up the colours. The bedspread does not look like grannie. Grannie likes ruffles, tissue box covers and straw hats with flowers glued on it.

I agree with lefty. This bedding is VERY granny looking in appearance. Terrible when there are so many lovely choices out there for quilts sets. This room could be so fresh and up lifting, instead of being so very dreary in appearance.

I disagree ,if that' s the case quilts could very well fall under the " Granny " choice , flowers are timeless .

I'd go with a solid pinky/red lumbar pillow for the bed. Then, for the curtains, simple woven blinds with black trim. This will avoid the radiator and mix it up for a transitional look.

My point-it depends on what you put with something that makes it look a

certain way. Just a little light heartedness. Perhaps not little enough.

Hi Courney..I have an idea that is easy on the budget and will be quite stylish. How about painting the baseboards and window trim black? Then, just a simple roll up/down shade you can pick up for cheap at the big box stores measured to fit. When you turn the bed on the other wall, wall sconces flanking the bed over simple and small side tables. Even something funky like tree stumps as side tables. You'll be stylin'. :)

Courtney, I know everyone is saying your bedding I'd granny. I think it is rather charming. What's wrong is how you have made your bed; it looks like your in the army! You need to loosen this up a bit, add some layering and give it a bit of interest. Fold the cover back and expose some pretty sheets, maybe a red blanket! Add a couple red bolsters, two white euro shams with red trim or your monogram. Here are a couple pics for inspiration

You might consider getting solid shams in a color pulled from the print, sill length curtains in the same solid as the shams, a wood shelf to cover the radiator (painted the same color as the wood trim in the room), use the print shams to make a valence for the curtains (take the heading up to the ceiling to lengthen the height of the window) If you have a bit left from the shams when you make the valences use it to trim a lumbar pillow for the bed. If the chest are not good quality wood paint the one you like the best to use in the room. I would probably go with a color and use interesting knobs. Maybe frame art work in black to tie in the headboard. The lovely thing about decorating is there are lots of good answers,

Great Ideas! I know everyone is different and likes different things but I'm opened to trying to make the room nice regardless of the bedding. It's what I have right now so I'm trying to make it work. It also is a reversible quilt that you can change(as stated on the packaging) I can also turn it the other way which looks like this. What way do you all like the best?

Also I forgot to add I don't usually make my bed like this but I did for the photos so you can see the whole quilt and pillow shams nicely

I like the first one best, but I get bored and love turning over reversible bedding, myself.

I agree with the prior poster hat suggested putting a woven Roman shade with black trim to tie into the bed. I also have radiators under my windows and I don't like the look of drapes that stop half way on the wall.

I like the first option better - the smaller print. But I suppose if you fold back the quilt, the underside would show and it would be a way to combine both. I'd look at finding a Roman shade in the background color of the quilt. I think the texture of the shade would work well in the room.

Also, someone unthread mentioned French country. I could see a white dresser in the room.
