Need help selecting a wood finish.

My son-in-law and daughter are building a timber frame home. What is recommended to seal the lumber and all interior cabinets, woodwork, furniture they are making, etc. When we built our home 22 years ago we used Zip-guard and I LOVE it. It is not available in our area any longer.

Watco was all we used on the timbers of this home. The trim received Watco and then a clear finish of waterborne urethane with the cabinets in lacquer and the doors in waterborne....all satin finish. Floors were engineered Lyptus in a light mahogany, satin finish.

These timbers are beautiful and we are definitely looking for the satin finish. Nothing glossy. Not sure of this lacquer you speak of. Thanks for the advice.
