White kitchen cabinets and white walls question.

Since we have never remodeled a kitchen before, we have this question: Preface: Old Dutch Colonial house with small kitchen, about to rehab with white wood cabinets gray veined countertops. Pretty sure we'll paint walls white, BUT...the same white as the cabinets, or is that a faux paus?

Not white and not the same color as your cabinets. There are many neutral colors out there to choose from. It's hard to suggest some colors without seeing your countertop and the actual space but check out Sherman Williams Essential colors.
