These are pictures of my living room. I am thinking of painting the wood wainscoting/moulding white throughout. Any input would be most appreciated!!

I saw your picture from your other post too. Normally, I like to paint woodowrk for a crisp clean look. But this woodwork is too beautiful and certainly period with the architecture. There is a lot of it tho so I would recommend breaking it up a bit with an area rug that could add some color to the room. It really is a stunning place. May I ask why you are thinking of painting it?

Is painting the walls a consideration? Not sure why you want to paint the woodwork, but I think if you painted the walls a lighter color, perhaps something like a light warm gray it might help the room look lighter if that was a reason for painting.

I am a huge fan of painted trim and woodwork, but I wouldn't touch yours. It's beautiful and is full of character. I would look at a different wall color instead.

Beautiful space, very clubby. If you're looking for a lighter feeling, try changing to lighter furnishings, an area rug and paint for the walls, instead of the woodwork. Get some ideas by just searching the box for dark woodwork under photos.

Here's another visual pic with painted woodwork an area rug and freshly painted walls picking up a color from the area rug. as you can see this results in a room with a cooler feeling.

I agree with the idea of painting the walls warm white and then bringing in a large light wool carpet with maybe some geometric dark brown lines in it.
